What is Reiki?
Reiki is an energy healing technique originating from Japan. Healing energy is channelled through the practitioner’s hands using gentle touch, to cleanse, boost and balance your energy. During a treatment, you may feel a range of very normal sensations including heat or cold, tingling or vibrating, emotional release such as crying or laughing, and visualisations. Allow yourself to let go and feel whatever comes up. We’ll be there to support you.

Reiki benefits the mind by reducing stress, calming anxiety, and promoting emotional balance, leading to greater mental clarity and inner peace.
For the body
Reiki promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and enhances the body's natural healing abilities by balancing energy flow, leading to improved physical and emotional well-being.

The first five minutes allows us to connect and talk about the treatment or any needs and questions you might have. We’ll then get you comfortable and settled on the treatment bed where you’ll stay for around 45 minutes.
After the session, you’ll have some time to come round, hydrate and if you feel comfortable, discuss what you experienced. We may also share anything that came up during your session.
You may feel a little drowsy immediately after a treatment, so this time at the end is important for you to feel grounded and ready to leave.

Everyone’s experience is personal, just as each treatment can be completely different from previous sessions. The reiki energy will flow how and where it’s needed at that time.
Reiki provides deep relaxation, but some people may also feel sensations of hot, cold or tingling. Additionally, you may release trapped emotions during a treatment through crying or laughing – it’s a completely normal way to move and release energy. You may also see colours, visualisations or words in your mind’s eye.

There’s no set way to dress for reiki, but to make your treatment as relaxing as it can be, wear something you’d by comfortable lying down in.

Reiki is a gentle energy practice that beautifully complements other medical and therapeutic techniques, making it safe for everyone – even children and animals!
However, if you do have trouble lying on your back for any length of time, please do let us know in advance of your treatment so we can offer more pillows or discuss how we might be able to adapt the treatment to suit you.

The word reiki is composed of two Japanese words: rei and ki.
In spiritual context, the definition of ‘rei’ is a higher intelligence that guides the creation and functioning of the universe. It’s the subtle wisdom that permeates everything and is available for us to tap into when we need guidance in our lives.
‘Ki’ – also known as chi or prana – is the life force energy that flows through everything from plants and animals to humans. When our ki is high, we feel strong, powerful, confident and ready to face life’s challenges. When it’s low, we feel weak and can struggle with life’s troubles and fighting off illness.
